Plexus Scientific Awarded New Contract to Help the IRS
with
its Digital Tax Media Challenges
Alexandria, VA., April, 2008—Plexus Scientific Corporation
was awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement to continue providing IT
services to the IRS’ Media and Publications (M&P)
group. Plexus will assist M&P in the design, development,
production, maintenance, and distribution of digital tax media.
This is a one-year contract with four option years and an
award value of up to $5 million per year, and allows Plexus to
continue providing the lifecycle production support services to the
M&P that it has been doing for the last seven years.
Under this agreement, Plexus will help the IRS as it faces
ever-increasing challenges such as implementing tax law changes,
increasing services in an expanding global and multilingual
environment, a loss in skilled workforce due to the impending
retirement of the baby boomer population, and improving customer
and employee satisfaction. Over the past seven years, Plexus
has supported new authoring/publishing solutions and worked with
the agency on technology insertion efforts such as digital talking
books, SCORM ELearning standards, and XML. Working with the
IRS’ Alternative Media Center and Adobe Systems, Plexus
helped pioneer the agency’s flagship Talking Tax
Forms, an extraordinary breakthrough in media technology that
offers the visually impaired a method for doing their taxes online
and on their own. Plexus created the roadmap for the
screen-reading software that makes the IRS’ voluminous PDF
forms accessible (readable) to the visually impaired.
Mike Reingruber, Vice President of Plexus’ Business
Solutions Group, said that “Plexus is very pleased to
continue our long-standing relationship with the IRS. This
new award will allow us to continue our support for the Media &
Publications group and ensure uninterrupted progress across tax
forms and publications, publishing, and distribution
initiatives.”
