Remediation Engineer

The Environmental Remediation Services Group has an exciting opportunity for a Remediation Engineer to become part of a multi-disciplined team providing consulting and design services in the area of groundwater and soil remediation including remedial assessment, design, and operation and maintenance. Being a diverse organization, other project opportunities will include water resource engineering, stormwater management permit applications and compliance, alternative energy initiatives, and a variety of field sampling and field work oversight responsibilities, including:

  • Participate in field investigations and collect a wide range of data from various environmental media using standard operating procedures and proper field documentation while following strict health and safety protocols
  • Assist in the technical analysis and design including application of specialized modeling software, spreadsheets and databases
  • Assist in developing preliminary and final engineering design documents including plans and specifications
  • Oversee and assist field team and subcontractors participating in field activities
  • Contribute to project meetings involving other members of the design team and clients
  • Assist with project management and coordination

Education

  • BS degree in Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university or college with minimum 5 years experience (or environmental related college project)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certificate
  • First Aid and CPR Training (preferred, not a requirement)

Minimum Requirements

  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Able to take instruction from senior technical staff
  • Excellent communication skills including technical writing, verbal, listening and interpersonal
  • Ability to work in a team environment, using personal time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Computer data management skills and be competent using MS Word and Excel with a basic operating knowledge of GIS and/or Autocad
  • EIT certification required and the ability and intent to obtain PE in the near future
  • Must have a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Must have a basic understanding of construction practices
  • Able to become proficient with field instruments and equipment
  • Knowledge and experience in innovative and in-situ remedial technologies a plus
  • This position requires entrance into a medical monitoring program with initial and annual physical exams and drug screenings. Must be able to strictly adhere to Health and Safety protocols both in the office and in the field
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record with the ability to travel regularly (approximately 30%), including overnight trips. This position requires the ability to perform field work under a wide range of weather conditions and land use settings
